I was born in the Philippines- I grew up in Texarkana… the Texas side. Yes, my name is pronounced like the country. Father of two boys, destroyer of cakes, and captain of team no calves. I have been crossfitting since 2010.
What is your favorite movement/WOD?
Squatting! It’s simple and by far the most functional movement, plus its highly effective in terms of strength gains. If you want to run faster, jump higher, and hit harder then you need to squat – full range of motion – “ATG.” I also enjoy the olympic lifts! My favorite WOD would be Cindy.
What are some of your goals?
As an athlete- competitive weightlifter with a national level total as a masters. As a coach, I want to continue to be better at my craft by constantly learning, I want to make sure all my athletes are moving with quality- to help them reach the most optimal version of themselves.
How do you see crossfit being different than other fitness programs?
CrossFit is the bee’s knees because it’s always challenging and it’s never the same routine. It constantly tests your fitness so you get to fine tune your abilities… endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy. It’s like getting bit by a radioactive barbell and you have these super powers. Plus it’s fun… if you’re allergic to fun then this is not the program for you. More importantly, the biggest difference is the sense of community! Where else are you going to find a group of like minded people loudly cheering you on and celebrating your efforts with high fives.
