    About Ben Winski

    Athletics has always been an important part of my life.I grew up in Dallas, and graduated from Arizona State University. In 2009 decided to leave corporate America, move back to Dallas and follow my passion- helping others through CrossFit.
    How long have you been crossfiting?
    I was living in Seattle and began CrossFit in 2002 at the world's first CrossFit Affiliate- CrossFit North. Andrew Krynen, a friend of mine showed me an article written by Greg Glassman and told me I had to come check out CrossFit North. I went, saw a bunch of gymnastics equipment, kettlebells, barbells, medicine balls and more... I was hooked on CrossFit and have been doing it ever since. Turns out this place was the start of an affiliate revolution! I was their gymnastics coach and got my Level 1 certification in 2003.
    What is your favorite movement/WOD?
    Being a former gymnast, body weight movements come pretty easy for me. My favorite movement is the pullup. My official record at CrossFit Luna is 55 in a row, unofficial is 63. My favorite WOD is Fran... It makes me nervous just thinking about it.
    What are some of your goals?
    To continue to offer the best coaching, programming and facilities for our members.
    How do you see CrossFit being different than other fitness programs?
    We have worked really hard to create a program that is inclusive of everyone at any level of fitness. The community we have here is what separates CrossFit Luna from other fitness programs.

    About Dhenmark Padecio

    I was born in the Philippines- I grew up in Texarkana... the Texas side. Yes, my name is pronounced like the country. Father of two boys, destroyer of cakes, and captain of team no calves.  I have been crossfitting since 2010.
    What is your favorite movement/WOD?
    Squatting! It's simple and by far the most functional movement, plus its highly effective in terms of strength gains. If you want to run faster, jump higher, and hit harder then you need to squat - full range of motion - "ATG." I also enjoy the olympic lifts! My favorite WOD would be Cindy.
    What are some of your goals?
    As an athlete- competitive weightlifter with a national level total as a masters. As a coach, I want to continue to be better at my craft by constantly learning, I want to make sure all my athletes are moving with quality- to help them reach the most optimal version of themselves.
    Why CrossFit Luna?
    We have a diverse community, people from all walks of life trying to accomplish one goal- to be better by 1% each day. We are training to push away the retirement home, our program focuses on sustainability & durability- we are training so we are beyond fit at 90 years old.     About Amber Cedillos

    I started CrossFit several years again while I was a personal trainer. I never thought I would step foot into a CrossFit box because I had heard some crazy things. But I eventually came to my senses and realized that CrossFit offered certain training techniques that I was not familiar with and I wanted to learn. Now, I have accumulated over two years worth of experience as a CrossFitter, even doing a couple of local competitions. If you have ever spent any time outside of the gym with me, you would have quickly realized that general fitness is pretty much all I think about. I am always researching new training techniques or some new information on nutrition. I decided that it was time to get out from behind my cubicle desk and start sharing my passion with others.
    What is your favorite Movement/WOD?
    I actually really enjoy the Olympic Lifting aspect of CrossFit, that is what really drew me to the sport to begin with. Any type of Lifting EMOM I love. And I am more of a chipper type WOD person. I mean, unless we are chipping away at a 5k.
    What are some of your goals?
    This past year I competed in a sanctioned Weightlifting event and qualified for Nationals. My long term goal would be to compete and medal at a National Level as a Master's Lifter. Some more short term goals would be to become more proficient in some of the gymnastics movements. For example, handstand walking and muscle ups.
    How do you see CrossFit being different than other fitness programs?
    I have tried so many different styles of training. CrossFit is different in so many ways. There is always something new to learn or something to get better at. But what I find to be the most different about CrossFit, and especially CrossFit LUNA is the great community atmosphere and involvement. You want to spend time here because your friends are here and you happen to be working out and staying healthy. You get the accountability of working out with friends and the guidance of working out with coaches and EVERYONE is here to help you get better.

    About Charles Hansen

    Born and raised in Irving, TX. Played a wide variety of sports. I grew up playing football, basketball and baseball eventually settling on basketball my last two years of high school. Upon graduation I attended St. Gregory’s University in Oklahoma, where I walked-on to the team and eventually earned a scholarship. After college I returned home looking for something to feed my competitive nature. I was introduced to the sport of fitness about 3 year ago, and have fallen in love with the sport.
    What is your favorite Movement/WOD?
    Shoulder to Overhead
    What are some of your goals?
    Be better than yesterday in and out of the box.
    How do you see CrossFit being different than other fitness programs?
    The all inclusiveness of it all and bringing communities together. You can truly see people grow not only as crossfitters but people with the support of all their peers.

    About Matthew Barksdale

    Born and raised in Livingston, Louisiana I am a 100% country kid that loves any sport that you will let me play. I loved riding horses and ATVs- I hated having to clean off the mud as a youngin'. I prefer open fields to city sky scrapers, but over time Dallas has become a very special place to me. I've been crossfitting since 2010. When I was young my loving parents gave me the opportunity to try any sport that I was willing to give 100% to. I played baseball, basketball, swimming, tennis, golf, and even a little gymnastics when I was very young. I eventually gravitated towards basketball which introduced me to the Gayle Hatch Weightlifting facility for speed and conditioning.   At 14 years old I began Olympic lifting and still continue to this day. My love for weightlifting and donuts grows stronger each day.
    What is your favorite movement/WOD?
    Snatching by far! The balance of explosive power, strength, and coordination is a thing of beauty and can test any athlete’s level of fitness. Amanda is by far my favorite workout. Squat snatches will push your ability to be explosive and in control and then Muscle Ups will reveal your gymnastic abilities.
    What are some of your goals?
    I would like to develop myself into a well-rounded coach that has the ability to take any individual and help them reach their fitness goals. Being able to take on any challenge presented to me has always been exciting! Nothing better than being able to help someone chase their dreams no matter what type of physical conditioning that dream requires.
    How do you see crossfit being different than other fitness programs?
    Simply put you get to go to a place where you work out every day with friends that want nothing more than to see you succeed. The community is everything and what keeps me coming back everyday.

    About Lawrence Ford

    I have been CrossFitting since 2012. Born and raised in Texas. I have an awesome wife and a beautiful daughter, both of whom will cheer you on during your workout. I'm on a quest to find the best donuts in America. My life has been fundamentally changed due to expert coaching on quality of movement, which took me from walking on a cane to squatting hundreds of pounds, I hope is to pass on that quality of movement to others.
    What is your favorite movement/WOD?
    Movement: Overhead Squats / WOD: Karen or a heavy chipper
    What are some of your goals?
    Well a 500 lb squat would be cool. But ultimately to be a better husband, father, coach, and athlete than last year.
    How do you see CrossFit being different than other fitness programs?
    I started CrossFit to rehab a knee injury after my daughter was born. I decided I wanted to be able to run and play with her as she grows up. CrossFit enables people to rediscover what it’s like take joy in moving again, in or outside of the gym. CrossFit can help anyone reach their specific goals. And as a coach, I strive to help you reach that goal.
